**A trauma-sensitive practice

Spend (3) sweet, summer mornings with Katie Morgan, RYT500. In this trauma-sensitive 60-minute practice, you can expect to establish community in the ritual of self-nurturing; in our personal lives, whether we devote time to nurturing ourselves with a full yoga practice on our mats, or with short amounts of time dedicated to brief, sustainable acts of care, this returning to ourselves is a sacred juxtaposition to all of the ways we give of ourselves each and every day.

This is a trauma-sensitive practice; this approach affirms that you alone are the expert of you, and thereby acknowledges (1) the instructor’s role in holding space for you to have your own experiences with the offerings that are shared, (2) the power of optionality that goes beyond “ability” and into the idea of what is right for your needs in this moment, (3) the establishment of trust, both with the instructor and community but most of all, within your ability to tune in to yourself.

You can expect to experience gentle movement (yoga postures that are restorative or gentle variations of traditional postures), somatic practices (using the body to foster interaction with the most "present" version of yourself), rituals to strengthen intentionality and restorative postures.

This kind of class experience could be the right fit for you if in this season you find:

- you are looking to practice "movement" and are curious about how to do that in gentle ways

- you are looking to add regulation practices to your "toolbox"

- you would like to find community around trauma-sensitive & trauma-informed yoga experiences (hands-off, filled with optionality and absent of judgement)

- you are longing for some time to hit the reset button and to nurture yourself holistically

- you are wondering how to build a stronger bond with your physical body

In these kinds of classes,

you will not:

- be encouraged to "keep-going", "hold a pose for 3 more breaths" or to breathe in one particular way...you have total autonomy!

you CAN expect:

- some postures that will be restorative with an invitation to be still, and others with an invitation to "flow" (meaning, in a nuanced way, between a posture or two at your pace and with your breath) (the entire offering with be a balance of gently active and passive experiences)

- to practice in a naturally lit space

- the support of bolsters, blocks, blankets and meditation chairs

- the same playlist for the entire series (this creates a sense of safety AND lets you drop deeper into the experience of your body once you will know what to expect)

You can preview the playlist HERE!

If you feel unsure about any of the musical offerings or would like to share any visuals/topics that feel like they could be barriers for you, you can feel free to contact me at thegriefritual@gmail.com

** Trauma-sensitive practices are those that are tailored to meet the needs of those who have experienced some form of trauma, loss or grief.

****Trauma-informed practices are more traditional (western) yoga class offerings but that live in an awareness of holding space for participants to have the kind of experience that they most need.
